Francis Wood - Cook
Francis James Wood was born on November 24, 1923 in Plantaganet, Ontario. He attended public school in Leonard, Ontario and enlisted in the RCNVR on December 8, 1941. He served in Canada, on the high seas and in Britain and was honourably discharged on November 14,1945. Francis married Louise Margaret Amero on July 28, 1945 at Deep Brook, Nova Scotia. After discharge, Francis worked at National Sea Products in Digby, Nova Scotia, with Commercial Caterers at HMCS Cornwallis and for shorts periods with CPR, CNR, Pinkerton Protective Services and for the last twenty years of his life at Canadian Bank Note Company, Ottawa. Louise and Francis were the proud parents of eight sons, four daughters and the fond grandparents of six granddaughters and seven grandsons. Francis died on April 24, 1980 at Ottawa.
