Donald P McGee - Able Seaman
Donald McGee was born in Montreal on August 10, 1925. He was educated at St. Brenden's and St. Dominic's Academies in Montreal. Don joined the navy in August, 1943 just before his 18th birthday, and was discharged in October, 1945. Don and Ellen Wilson were married in Montreal, May 30, 1953. Their son Michael died at age 21. They have three daughters, Donna (BA & MA degrees), Sandra (teachers' degree), and Laurie (CMA degree). Don and Ellen have five grandchildren. Don was first employed by T. Eaton Co. and worked his way up to buyer for the cross country stores and mail orders. He worked for H.F.C. (Household Finance) and left as Branch Manager. He joined and opened Crescent Finance in the Quebec, Eastern Ontario and Newfoundland provinces. Don retired in 1985 from AVCO Finance, leaving as General Manager. He has an interest in stamps but is more sports oriented, having played football in the Montreal area and baseball in the Laurentian League. Don and his wife like bowling, swimming, bike riding and good walks.
