Albert J. Ball - Able Seaman
Albert John Ball was born in Glenaven, Saskatchewan, on March 14, 1923. He was educated in Regina and worked briefly for Burns & Company before he joined the navy in 1942 at HMCS Queen, Regina. Al was drafted to the Nene at Dartmouth and, following his discharge from the service, rejoined Burns & Co. for a short period of time. He then left Burns and worked for the CNR as an engineer for 36 years; fired for five years and ran an engine for 31 years, retiring in 1983. Al was married to Beulah Olive and he has four stepchildren. Beulah passed away in 1990.

A. John Ball passed away on January 9, 2013 in Regina, SK. John is predeceased by his parents Agnes and Albert, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. He is survived by Louise, his companion of many years, her 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sister Ruth (Pat); and brother George (Elaine). In lieu of flowers, donations in Johnís memory may be made to the Wascana Grace Hospice or the Saskatchewan Lung Association.

(John was known as "Al" while serving on Nene.)
