Warren W. Hunter - Able Seaman
Warren W Hunter was born in Fifeshire, Scotland, May 2, 1923. His family immigrated to Canada in 1925 and Warren went to school in Windsor and Eberts, Ontario. He joined the navy in 1941 and served on the HMC ships Cartier, Prince Henry. He was at the HMC diving school and served on the HMC Avalon, diving boat. Warren joined the Nene in 1944, in Dartmouth, and was drafted HMS Ferret and HMCS Bowmanville until war's end. In 1943 Warren and Mary Elizabeth Ford were married. They have twenty-six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. After the war Warren returned to St. John's, Newfoundland to work for the U.S. Army Transport Service as a diver. He re-enlisted in 1951 to 1960. He returned to Windsor and was engaged in many jobs, retiring from Chrysler in 1987 after 22 years and moved to Essex, Ontario. Warren is a life member of the Royal Canadian Naval Association and an avid model railroader.

HUNTER, Warren Watson “The Colonel” Passed away peacefully on August 2, 2013 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (nee Ford). Loving father of George (Karen) of Nova Scotia, Gordon (Bonnie) of Windsor, Robert (Pat) of Trenton, Charles (Janet) of Windsor, David (Lynda) of Nova Scotia, Gene (Pat) of Windsor, Yvonne Wright (Gus McCann) of Scarbourgh, Cathie Tellier (Kevin Adolphe) of Windsor. Dear grandfather to 31 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Warren was the last of 12 siblings. He will be missed by many, many nieces, nephews and dear friend and companion Dawn Lesperance. Warren was a World War II Navy Vet, a member of the Navy Club and an honorary member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
