Edward Michael Melski - ERA
Edward Michael Melski was born on February 20, 1921 in Sydney, Nova Scotia. He was educated at Holy Redeemer School and Sydney Academy High School. Ed joined the navy voluntarily in Halifax in 1940. After his training he served overseas during the war years. Ed married Shirley Gillis of New Waterford, Nova Scotia on April 23, 1956. They have five children Ed Jr., Gerard, Barry, Bonita and Rose and daughters-in-law Florence, Coleen, Sandra, and son-in-law Mike. They were blessed with thirteen grandchildren. Ed worked for Bundy of Canada at the Sydney Steel Plant, as a crane operator for 28 years, until his retirement in 1976. In 1981 he and Shirley moved to Brantford, Ontario to reside with his son Ed and daughter-in-law Coleen, until his death in January 1988. Ed was an avid bowler all his life. Shirley Melski continues to live in Brantford and keeps in touch with the Nene family through correspondence and reunions.
